Ben Lee BA (Political Science), LLB (Common Law)

Ben Lee is a Senior Principal on the Timberland team at Fiera Comox.

Ben has a leading role in the sourcing, due diligence and execution of new investment opportunities for the portfolio. Additionally, Ben will be actively involved in the management of assets across the portfolio and providing strategic oversight for portfolio companies.  

Ben has broad executive experience in the timberland and resource development industry. He was most recently SVP, Corporate Development & General Counsel for Mosaic Forest Management (“Mosaic”), Canada’s leading timberland manager with 585,000 hectares (1.45 million acres) of privately owned forest, where he was an executive for 9 years and led the pursuit of strategic growth opportunities for Mosaic (including M&A and non-timber opportunities) while overseeing the legal and governance functions. Ben played a leading role in the 2018 multi-billion transaction that brought together Island Timberlands and TimberWest to create Mosaic.  He also played an integral part of the development, launch and marketing of the largest nature-based carbon credit project in Canada. 

Prior to that, he spent over 4 years at Goldcorp Inc. (TSX / NYSE) in a senior legal role, where he led and managed the successful execution of over $12B in acquisition, disposition, joint venture and financing transactions.  Before that, he worked for over 5 years in the M&A / Securities Law Group of Fasken LLP, a Canadian national law firm.
